August Mangeney is a husband, father, attorney, and lifelong Democrat running for State House District 93.
As a first-generation college graduate, August understands the importance of education and the opportunities it provides. With two kids in public school, he’s dedicated to providing the same opportunity for the next generation of Florida’s children.
August was born into a working-class, union household in South Florida. His parents worked hard, and at times struggled, to provide a middle-class life for their two kids. August watched as his parents made personal sacrifices, teaching him the value of perseverance but also instilling the desire to help those around him live a better life.
August decided to become a lawyer because of a professor that taught him about how our government works, or at least how it’s supposed to work. He learned about lawyers that fought for change through the courts and through the legislature to make the lives of everyday people better.
He’s spent over a decade as a practicing attorney, specializing in auto insurance issues, but he’s never forgotten why he went to law school. He’s volunteered for campaigns up and down the ballot and worked as a member of the Fair Districts effort that successfully challenged the unconstitutional partisan gerrymandering of Florida’s districts. He is a past president of the Margate Democratic Club and served as a precinct committeeman with the Palm Beach County Democratic Party. He volunteered as an attorney for the Florida Democratic Party during the 2018 recounts and was a designated poll watcher for the Harris Campaign in 2024. Through these roles, he’s fought for fair representation and government leadership that reflects our shared values.
August and his wife, Allison — a former fourth-grade teacher and proud union member — live in Lake Worth with their two children.
He’s running for the Florida House to make sure every family in our community has a fair shot — in school, at home, in the workplace, and at the ballot box.
